I love the crispy, crunchy bite of them and drenching them in my sauce of choice. My favorite fries are crinkle-cut fries. What Makes This Recipe So Great?
- Easy and Quick Recipe- This recipe is so easy and quick to make! You literally are just throwing some frozen crinkle cut fries in and letting the air fryer do the work. All in 10 minutes!
- Healthier- Air frying uses so much less oil than deep frying and you still get that crispy, crunchy bite!
- Easy Clean Up-The other perk to this recipe is the easy clean up! I absolutely hate dealing with a deep fryer and having to clean up the oil. This recipe is as simple as washing and drying your air fryer after use!
Ingredient Notes
- Frozen Crinkle Cut Fries- Any frozen Crinkle Cut Fries will work! I normally just grab a bag from my local Sprouts or the brand from Alexia foods. Any fries will work! Make sure your bag is the right size. I have found that at 20 ounce bag seems to work perfectly, any larger and you risk crowding your air fryer.
- Salt- The salt is optional but if you are like me and love things super salty, go ahead and toss it in!
See the recipe card for the full ingredient list and quantities.
Instructions
- Place the frozen crinkle cut fries in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are in an even layer. My air fryer can fit a 20 ounce bag.
- Secure the basket in the air fryer and set the temperature to 400 degrees and the time for 5 minutes.
- When the timer goes off, remove the basket and toss the crinkle cut fries. Tossing the fries helps to give them an even cook the so fries on the bottom are able to get crispy.
- Cook an additional 5 minutes or until desired crispiness is achieved
- Remove from the basket, and enjoy!
Hint: Most frozen french fries contain some sort of vegetable oil so there is no need to brush or spray these fries with oil before adding to the air fryer.
Variations
- Spicy - Toss the Crinkle Cut Fries in some Old Bay Seasoning halfway through air frying to give them the perfect kick!
- Loaded - After air frying, load up the fries with your favorite toppings! I love making chili cheese fries using vegan cheese and some canned vegan chili!
- Savory - Toss the Crinkle Cut Fries in some chopped rosemary or thyme for a savory spin.
How to Serve
- We love serving these frozen Crinkle Cut Fries alongside burgers like this Easy Air Fryer Beyond Burger, this White Bean Teriyaki Burger, or even these Loaded Burger Bowls!
- Serve alongside a dipping sauce like this Barbecue Ranch Dressing!
FAQ's
No, there is no need to defrost the fries before air frying. They will get perfectly cooked without having to thaw first.
I wouldn't consider these fries healthy, however they are much healthier being made in the air fryer then being made in the deep fryer. The air fryer doesn't use oil to cook the fries which lightens them up just a little.
Add the leftovers to the air fryer basket and cook for 3 minutes until warmed through.
Equipment
Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. See below for the equipment you will need to make this recipe.
- Air Fryer
- Serving Tongs
Storage
Store any leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat the fries, set the air fryer to 400 degrees, place the fries in a single layer and heat for 2-3 minutes or until reheated.
Since these fries have already been frozen once, I would not recommend re-freezing them.
Top tips
- All air fryers cook differently. Cooking time may vary among different air fryers. If you're unsure of your specific air fryer's cooking time for these fries, start checking for doneness after 10 minutes.
- Make sure to put everything in one layer and do not stack the fries or they will get soggy and not crisp up.
