This Blue Spirulina Smoothie Bowl is refreshing and delicious! A fun way to get your daily nutrients, this smoothie bowl makes the perfect breakfast. Easy and quick to make, this blue smoothie bowl will impress even the pickiest of eaters. Serve yourself a healthy and quick breakfast with this delicious recipe!
This Blue Spirulina Smoothie Bowl is inspired by my favorite go-to drink at Jamba Juice, their Blue Vanilla Sky. It is plant-based and delicious! Now, I would go to Jamba Juice all the time and order this, however, I wanted something a little easier to make at home and to have the ability to drink it whenever I want!
This recipe is super healthy and packed with fruit thanks to the tropical fruit mix and the blue spirulina. Spirulina is a type of algae that grows in both fresh and saltwater. It is loaded with nutrients. Gram for gram, spirulina may be the single most nutritious food on the planet.
A single tablespoon (7 grams) of dried spirulina powder contains:
- Protein: 4 grams
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine): 11% of the recommended daily amount
- Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): 15% of the recommended daily amount
- Vitamin B3 (niacin): 4% of the recommended daily amount
- Copper: 21% of the recommended daily amount
- Iron: 11% of the recommended daily amount
- It also contains decent amounts of magnesium, potassium, and manganese, and small amounts of almost every other nutrient that you need.

- Keto - To make this recipe keto-friendly, cut the berries in half and replace the banana with avocado to add creaminess. Additionally, replace the maple syrup with monkfruit. Bulk up the smoothie by adding spinach or hemp seeds.
- Gluten-Free - Make sure to use Gluten-Free granola as a topper and you are golden!
- Paleo - Use real dairy milk in place of almond milk

Equipment
Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. High-speed blenders are a must, you have a lot of fruit going into this and it is going to be THICK. This is the blender that I have used for years and I love it!
Storage
Feel free to make this the night before and store it in the fridge overnight to have for breakfast the next day!
Store these smoothies in quart-sized mason jars, fill three-quarters of the way up and freeze for smoothies all week long!
Top tip
Wear an apron, when mixed with liquid, the blue spirulina powder will stain. It is important to keep your clothes clean and while handling wearing an apron.

Is this quite similar to the jamba juice one? Just as I know they use pineapple rather than mango so wondered how it compared. Also is it use immediately or might any spare keep for a day? Thanks 🙂
kaydimaggio says
It is very similar to the one from Jamba Juice! I would use it immediately, however, if you want to save it, I would put it in a covered container in the fridge. 🙂
