What Makes this the Best Strawberry Peanut Butter Smoothie
- Whole-Food Plant-Based: This smoothie is Whole- Food Plant-Based which means it is dairy-free and vegan. The sweetness comes from the maple syrup and the creaminess comes from the almond milk and bananas.
- 5 Ingredients- It doesn't get any easier than this! We almost always have all these ingredients at our house so it is just pulling together your freezer ingredients and blending them up!
- Healthy and Filling- This smoothie is the perfect post-workout drink or just a fun drink for kids that is healthy and filling. Full of whole ingredients, you won't regret this!
Ingredient Notes
- Frozen Strawberries- The base of this smoothie is frozen strawberries. You can either purchase frozen strawberries from the grocery store or freeze your own, however, you want to make sure that they are frozen and not fresh. If you use fresh, you will have to add ice to your smoothie to cool it making it thick.
- Banana- The banana adds a creaminess to the smoothie so it isn't gritty from the strawberries. If you don't like bananas, you can leave them out.
- Maple Syrup- The maple syrup adds a hint of sweetness to the smoothie, if you prefer your smoothie less sweet, feel free to leave it out.
- Peanut Butter- Peanut butter adds a healthy protein to the smoothie. Make sure to get peanut butter that is just peanuts and not one that is processed and has a lot of additives.
See the recipe card for the full ingredient list and quantities.
Instructions
- Measure all the ingredients out into bowls
- Add all of the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth
- Taste the smoothie and add additional sweetener if it is not sweet enough, pour into smoothie glasses and enjoy!
Hint: Add all of the wet ingredients first to make blending easier, you can see in the photo that the strawberries were added last.
Substitutions
- Almond Milk - If you want to keep this nut-free, swap the almond milk with your favorite plant-based milk. I love making this with oat milk as well!
- Peanut Butter - If you have a peanut allergy, feel free to swap the peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
- Maple Syrup - You can also sweeten this smoothie with Stevia or another sugar alternative
Variations
- Triple Berry - Try using a triple berry mixture instead of just strawberries for a fun alternative.
- Avocado - Swap the banana for avocado, it will still be super creamy and delicious!
- Spinach - Feel free to load this smoothie with extra vegetables. I love sneaking in handfuls of spinach.
- Protein- Try adding some vegan protein powder to this recipe to boost it!

FAQ's
Peanut Butter is a great addition to any smoothie as it adds a lot of healthy fat and fiber. Just make sure to get the peanut butter that only contains peanuts. Most commercial peanut butters have a lot of added ingredients.
Lots of things! To make a smoothie creamy, I like to add frozen fruits, fresh bananas, avocados, plant milk or yogurt!
The key to weight loss is to fill up on high fiber, low-calorie foods which will keep hunger at bay for longer. Add some flaxseeds, hempseeds or chia seeds to this smoothie to boost the fiber and keep you full!

Storage
Store for up to one day in the fridge in a tightly sealed glass jar or shaker.
You can make a big batch of these smoothies and freeze them. I like to freeze them in individual portions using mason jars. I just take one out of the freezer the night before and put it in the fridge to thaw.
Top tips
- Always add the liquid first when making a smoothie. It will help it to blend better and have a smoother consistency.
- Make sure to use ripe bananas as they will have the most sweetness.
- If you are able, invest in a high speed blender, it has been a lifesaver for me on so many occasions!
