This Easy Edible Brownie Batter is the perfect fun treat when you need a quick dessert. Fun to make for the whole family, this brownie batter you can eat straight out of the bowl!
Do you remember growing up and making brownies with mom? I know I do! Brownies are so easy to make so they were always the go-to for events in our house. The best part about making the brownies though was licking the batter off the back of the spoon, am I right? Somewhere down the line, we were told that it was bad to eat raw flour and eggs and that crushed our fun of the best part about making brownies. However, this Edible Brownie Batter has everything your little kid's heart desires. It is the perfect fun dessert for the whole family and it is easy to make. This brownie batter is perfect for eating raw as it doesn't contain processed flour and it is egg-free. Everyone will love this!

What Makes This Edible Brownie Batter So Great?
- This Brownie Batter is perfectly safe to eat raw!
- While still satisfying your sweet tooth, this treat is refined sugar-free!
- The chocolate pairs well as a base to add any toppings that you like!
- This edible brownie batter recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
Ingredient Notes
- Almond Flour- The base of this recipe is almond flour. Almond flour has a nutty taste as it is made of finely ground almonds. It is perfect for this recipe because it does not need to be heat-treated and you can eat it raw, a plus is that it is gluten-free as well!
- Coconut Sugar-I loves using coconut sugar in this recipe as it is not too sweet and it won't spike your blood sugar. Coconut Sugar has a lower glycemic index than white sugar which makes it a better alternative.
- Cocoa Powder-I use Hershey's Cocoa Powder. Make sure to sift it if it is lumpy!
See the recipe card for the full ingredient list and quantities.
Instructions
- In a large glass bowl, cream together the melted vegan butter and coconut sugar.
- Stir in the vanilla, almond milk, and maple syrup.
- Add the cocoa powder, almond flour, and salt and mix until a smooth batter forms and there are no lumps.
- Stir in the chocolate chunks and divide them into bowls, enjoy!
Hint: Try and find finely ground almond flour as some almond flours can have a grainy texture. I love using Bob's Red Mill brand as I find that it is the least grainy.
Substitutions and Variations
- Almond Flour - You can swap the almond flour for most other gluten-free flour blends as they do not need to be heat treated. Oat flour is a great substitution!
- Vegan Butter - Feel free to swap the vegan butter for coconut oil if you prefer.
- Coconut Sugar - If you find that the brownie batter is not sweet enough for you, feel free to use white sugar in place of coconut sugar.
Toppings and Mix-Ins
- Raspberry -Stir in some fresh raspberries for a fun variation! Raspberries go great with chocolate!
- Spicy - Add ¼ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper to the batter to give it a fun, spicy kick!
- Sprinkles - Make this even more fun for the kiddos by stirring some sprinkles into the batter!
- Espresso Powder-Espresso powder helps to deepen the flavor of the chocolate! Use instant powder for the best results
- Nuts- Add some chopped peanuts for fun!
- Candy-Chop up your favorite candy and add to the batter! This is perfect to use up that leftover Halloween or Easter candy!
- Peanut Butter- Stir some creamy peanut butter into the batter, you won't regret it!

Of course! If you prefer not to use the vegan butter, you can easily use coconut oil in its place.
