Ingredient Notes
- Frozen chopped spinach- The best part about this pizza is how easy it is. To make it even easier, I use frozen chopped spinach. It eliminates the step of having to chop it yourself. I like to thaw it in the pan with a little oil from the artichokes! If you don't have frozen spinach on hand, feel free to substitute it for four cups chopped fresh spinach.
- Vegan Cream Cheese-To make this Vegan Spinach Artichoke Pizza creamy, I use Vegan Cream Cheese. I like both the Trader Joe's brand as well as the Kite Hill brand.
- Vegan Mayonnaise- The vegan mayonnaise helps to add the tangy flavor to the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. I have used both Trader Joe's brand vegan mayonnaise as well as Best Food's Vegan Mayonnaise. If you don't like mayonnaise or don't have it on hand, you can still get that tangy flavor from Vegan Sour Cream.
- Marinated artichoke hearts- The marinated artichoke hearts pull double duty in this recipe. They both provide texture and flavor to the pizza as well as their oil gives us something to sauté the spinach in. If you are trying to cut back on oil, feel free to use artichokes canned in water. Just make sure to drain it.
- Crushed Red Chili Flakes- I like my spinach dip to have a kick to it so I add about 1 teaspoon of crushed red chili pepper flakes. It gives a nice kick and rounds out the flavor. However if you have a sensitivity to spice, feel free to omit.
Please see the recipe card for full ingredient list and quantities.
Instructions
- Drain the artichoke hearts but reserve 2 tbs of the oil for sautéing the spinach. Add the 2 tbs oil to a pan and add the frozen spinach. Sauté until the spinach is thawed.
- Add the artichoke hearts, garlic powder, onion powder, and red chili flakes and stir to combine
- Add the vegan cream cheese, vegan mayonnaise, and the vegan parmesan, and stir to combine.
- Roll out the pizza dough and spoon on the spinach and artichoke dip. Spread the dip over the crust of the pizza. Bake the pizza at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
Hint: Feel free to make your own homemade pizza crust or use pre-made pizza dough. I always use pre-made dough because I like to make this on busy weekdays.
Substitutions
- Gluten-Free -Feel free to use a gluten-free pizza crust, all the ingredients in the spinach dip are gluten-free.
- Soy-Free- To make this Vegan Spinach Artichoke Pizza soy-free, use a soy-free vegan cream cheese such as this one and a soy-free vegan mayonnaise.
- Oil-Free- Use an oil free vegan mayonnaise and omit the oil when sautéing the spinach. You can just let it thaw in the pan as it is frozen and will release water.
Variations
- Spicy - Add some sliced jalapeño peppers on top to add a little spice.
- Flatbread - Turn this into a fancy appetizer by swapping the pizza crust for flatbread and then slicing into individual portions.
- Pinwheels - Roll the pizza dough into a circle and then spread the vegan spinach and artichoke dip around the middle. Roll into a log and then slice into rounds and bake for a delicious appetizer!

FAQ's
If you use a keto friendly pizza crust then yes! All the ingredients in the spinach dip portion of the pizza are keto friendly.
If your Vegan Spinach Artichoke Dip is too oily or watery, it could be because the spinach was holding in a lot of water and you added to much oil to saute and not enough vegan mayonnaise and cream cheese. I only add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan. If you keep the measurements accurate, it shouldn't turn out oily or watery.
That answer is a big "it depends." Most vegan cream cheeses are made with some type of nuts, however there are some that aren't. If you use a nut-free cream cheese and leave out the vegan parmesan then yes, this pizza will be nut-free.
Storage
This pizza stores great, keep it in the fridge for up to four days. I keep mine in just a gallon size bag and it stores fine.
These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.
Top tips
- If using pre-made pizza dough, let it rest for about half an hour before rolling. It will help the gluten to relax and make it more pliable.
- This recipe makes enough for two 12 inch pizzas. If you have a big family, that is perfect, if not, this pizza stores great so eat for leftovers!
- There is no need to pre bake your pizza dough in this recipe. I never have. I always just scoop the dip on and bake the pizza.
