Let's talk about cheese for a second. Who doesn't love cheese? I felt like the world was ending when I had to give up cheese. I am the kind of girl who would put cheese on just about anything, especially Parmesan! Parmesan has a way of adding a great nutty flavor to a variety of dishes. It also can enhance the flavor at just the right note for pasta, sauces, and more. For anyone who finds themself in the same boat as I am, this Vegan Parmesan Cheese is the perfect substitute for you. It is vegan, all-natural, and non-processed. Best of all, it tastes just like real Parmesan!
When I had to adjust to a dairy-free lifestyle that meant finding ways to incorporate the flavors that I missed the most. Vegan cheeses have come a long way and there are so many options out there, however, in part of a move towards a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family, it meant trying to cut out the processed foods and that meant processed vegan cheese.
How to make Vegan Parmesan Cheese?
Making vegan parmesan couldn't be easier and it comes together in less than 5 minutes. All you do is add your cashews, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and salt to a food processor or high-speed blender and blend it all up. Then you pour it into a glass jar and it is ready to use.
What is Nutritional Yeast?
Nutritional Yeast is a popular food product that is often found in vegan cooking. It is part of the same family of yeasts that is used to bake bread and brew beer. Nutritional yeast is often sold as flakes, granules or powder and can be found in the spice section or bulk bins of grocery stores. Nutritional Yeast has a cheese like flavor that makes it the prefect substitute for vegans. I buy my nutritional yeast at Trader Joe's, but you can also purchase some via Amazon.
How long does Vegan Parmesan Cheese last?
This cheese is comprised of dry, shelf-stable ingredients which means it will last a long time. I like to store my cheese in the fridge and have used it until it runs out, up to 2 months.
